The NEW entrance to Hillocks via Whalf Mine Engine Shaft is now open. 65 m rope required. The easiest way to find it is by climbing the stile in the back LHS of the copse where Whalf climbing shaft is situated.

from cavers cars, March 2000:

On Saturday 25th March a cavers car was broken into at the P8 lay-by. Clothes and personal belongings were stolen along with some jewellery. Several cars were also broken into at Stanage Edge. If you are caving in the area please be careful and don't leave anything valuable in your car. Watch out.... there's thieving bastards about.
