A very successful cave clean-up weekend took place on the 9th and 10th February 2008 in Bradwell Dale, Derbyshire. Natural England provided a skip and around eighteen cavers from the Eldon Pothole Club, SUSS, Orpheus, TSG, Crewe and NUCC got stuck into....
· Clearing the area outside Bradwell Parish Cave and the cave itself of rubbish/old digging stuff.
· Removing the old and obsolete showcave lights and associated cable from Bagshawe Cavern.
· Removing the junk from the Bagshawe Cavern mine workings.
· Clearing the area around Bagshawe Cavern of rubbish.
· Stabilising the roof in the Bagshawe entrance stope.
Without exception everyone worked incredibly hard and the results were excellent! By Sunday evening the area around the Bradwell Dale caves looked fantastic, all the Bagshawe showcave lights were out and waiting to be taken away for recycling, the work in the Bagshawe entrance stope was well underway and the area around Bagshawe Cavern looked much better. There is still more engineering work to be done in the roof of the Bagshawe entrance stope and further weekends will be planned. These will be publicised on the Peak District Caving website and volunteers will be very welcome! Please contact Jules Barrett (jules@orionmountaineering.com) if you would like to help out.

It is reported that the timbered arch between the start of Big Dig and the lower streamway has collapsed.
Update: 04/03/2008.
Some work has been done to temporarily shore up the choke but the timbers are in a poor state and are in need of replacement. The DCA are providing funding for some replacement steel supports.
