Sometime on or before the 24th the mine shaft on the north side of the B6061 just west of the Giants track collapsed, taking the boundary wall with it. Due to it's close proximity Derbyshire County Council have closed the main road (access only) with barriers at the Castleton and Sparrowpit ends. Access to Giants Hole from the Castleton end seems to be unaffected.

Derbyshire County Council have started works and hope to have the B6061 open again by the 16th December.
