Cascade Cavern is closed to cavers from 12th August 2024 for at least six months for a bat monitoring programme. Please do not disturb the site beyond the Heras fencing, which is also there to keep the public away from the dangerous concrete cap.

Access is awkward and risky due to a partially collapsed concrete cover and an old rusty galvanised water tank fitted below, with a hole cut in the base. A ragged metal edge means rope protection here is advised. Shaft top stabilisation and the installation of a new lid will be taking place 'at some point' after the monitoring is completed, so access will be suspended still further for a short time during this work.
